Encore

The Encore Ministry is focused on the pre-retirement population of Baby Boomers – those who are between 50 and 64 years of age. This ministry began in October 2009. We facilitate discovering and building relationship opportunities with others in the same age group. Our purpose is to help people bond with others in the group and to make new friends. The various activities and outings are suitable for believers and non-believers. We recognize that Baby Boomers are re-defining what retirement and senior living is all about. We are on the leading edge of creating ministry in tune with this lifestyle.

Many in this age group are transitioning into becoming empty-nesters, want to go out and have fun, and to experience new things in their lives while they have the health and energy to do so. They may be at the cross roads of contemplating what to do next to give meaning and purpose to their lives. Often they are called upon to still take care of their children or grandchildren, as well as their own parents as they grow older and less self-dependent. Encore people need a time to get away from stress, a time to relax and a time to unwind.

Our Ministry Includes:

Social gatherings have included table-game nights, bowling, picnics, photography lessons, corn maze, tours and outings. We meet about 3 to 4 times a year. In the future we will add life-equipping and coping skills components.
