Submission by Liz Engler - November 12, 2021

My son Bradley was living in Kelowna.
He had a huge hernia and was waiting to be operated on before he returned home to Surrey.  But due to covid his operation was put on hold much to our dismay.  With my talks with him on the phone he gave his life to Jesus six months before he passed away.  He died in his sleep with a heart attack which we were not aware of.  The night he died was Bill’s and my wedding anniversary, July 11, 2020.. But God has been so gracious to me, he left me with this precious remembrance from my dear son.  Brad sent me this precious note, “There is nothing more precious than a mother’s prayers, the tender way she shares, the heart of God in all.”  God took the pain of my loss and turned it to peace.  Only a gracious and loving God knows what a mother’s heart needs in such a deep time of sorrow.
Love and blessings

Ps  If any of your dear ones have loved ones outside the fold, keep on praying, God is faithful.

Eulogy written by daughter Lori Fuller:

Judy Anne was born on November 25, 1944, in Vancouver, BC.  Judy married Glen Fuller on January 20th, 1967.   They had 2 children, Lori and Carl.

Judy was also known for her baking, especially her chocolate chip cookies.  Neighbors would often just happen to stop by when they were fresh out of the oven.  Her dad was also a baker and I’m told that was a huge inspiration to her.

In her spare time, Judy like doing knitting and crocheting.  Judy was proud of everything that she made and blessed to be able to share her talent with others.  She especially liked making baby clothes as she loved babies.  We have several pictures of the items she made as well as her birds.  You won’t see any of the cookies though, they never lasted long enough for pictures to be taken.

Judy loved dealing with people.  She handed out the 24-hour paper for quite a few years at the Skytrain stations, then went on to be a dishwasher at a few restaurants until she decided it was time to retire.

Judy passed away on Friday, April 16th.  She made a lasting impression on anyone who came into her life.  It is a great privilege to write this eulogy to express the sadness that we share over her loss.  Mom, thank you for everything you’ve done for us and the warmth we shared during your precious time on earth.  We love you.  God bless you, always.

God bless and comfort all who lost family members, friends and neighbours.  May God's light shine through and bring comfort and draw many towards His amazing love.

Prayer in Memory of My Dad

Heavenly Father,

Thank you for giving us a wonderful dad who was so blessed by you
The greatest of all was knowing and receiving you as his Savior and Lord
Dad showed us true riches come from living a life with you and your glory
With a generous heart, he loved, cared and gave to others with joy and happiness.
Thank you for pouring such wealth into dad’s life -
a pretty wife, 6 children, 17 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
May we cherish the wonderful memories he sowed into our lives
For they are invaluable treasures which you had put into his life for our benefits
Dad had such a cheerful, generous personality plus a booming laughter,
which will be greatly missed by all who knew him
In life, he trusted you and shared testimonies of your protection over him
May the work you started with dad carries on with us and others till we meet again
He left us a legacy of Christian living of love, forgiveness, and grace
Holy Spirit, strengthen us to go out to fulfill your commission as dad did
Comfort us Lord during this time of our loss as we lift our thoughts to you in prayers
Thank you for watching over dad in his last days esp. opening doors for Andrew’s visit
Saying a final farewell conveying our family love and you are with him too
So thank you once again, Lord, for dad who touched our lives in big ways and small.
They will be held close to our hearts to cherish and remember with love.
With all these treasured memories, we give you the highest praise.

In Jesus Name. Amen

With love to dad

Submission by Kristiina Vuorensivu - November 7, 2021

Jari Pekka Vuorensivu was born on October 21, 1950
in Kauhava, Finland to Vilho & Terttu. On July 16, 2020, Jari passed away, due to medical complications brought on by a sudden stroke.

In 1965, then a teenager, Jari moved to Canada with his immigrant family, mom, dad and brothers Raimo, Markku and Marianne. In 1969, youngest sister Kristiina was born in Vancouver, where the family had settled, after living in Thunder Bay and Winnipeg.

Jari was the kind of person who worked tirelessly to help people, particularly his family members. He was the kind of brother that showed up to do whatever was needed & to figure out any problem together, and the kind of uncle that made his nieces and nephews feel special; always listening to whatever they were excited to talk about.  He has left a big hole in our hearts. Jari was a dutiful son to his aging father and a loving husband and father to his wife Seija and daughter Mira.

Jari went to BCIT and became an expert at drafting. He drew up blueprints for many Vuorensivu family homes over the years, still standing in Burnaby.

Jari was a driven entrepeneur who worked most of his life carving his path in design, construction and related fields, including running his own construction company, "Mountainside" Construction. Jari was also the local Eco-Block distributor, working for a greener tomorrow in building materials. He was very involved in the Finnish Canadian community, as a former board member of the Emmaus Lutheran Church, and serving as president of the board of directors of the Finnish Canadian Rest Home Association for 9 years (FCRHA). Following his official tenure at the FCRHA, he upgraded many seniors residences.  His last major project was actualized in 2020, after years of hard work & challenges; the "Koskela project", which provided 67 units of affordable seniors housing in Coquitlam.

Jari enjoyed working on cars, action movies, listening to music and spending time with his family and friends. He relished travelling, and got to see many parts of the world. Recently, he had the opportunity to travel to Africa twice with friends, and being a Finn at heart, he spent many summers in Finland visiting family and enjoying saunas by the lake.

Poem by Diana

Please do not be sad today.
I have not gone, I am just away.
Do not weep.
But close to your heart my presence keep.
Think of me as you go life's way.
Beside you I will always stay.
Do not forget me day by day.
I have not gone I am just away.
I will wait for you in that place called Heaven.
In the meantime live your life like there is no tomorrow!!
I am safe in Jesus' arms,
So do not weep, and do not sorrow!!

These are dear friends from my former church.
They were very involved in my life. They passed hours apart from COVID.

It is with great sadness that the family of Stanley Alfred Clifford announce his passing on December 8, 2020, at the age of 91 due to COVID-19. Stanley was born in Vancouver August 15, 1929 and was predeceased by his first wife, Phyllis (Shippam) Clifford in 1958. Stanley married Leona (Pankratz) Clifford 49 years ago on November 5, 1971. Leona passed away a mere 9 hours later, also due to COVID-19. Stanley was a beloved and faithful husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was a dedicated Canadian Postal employee for 40+ years and a devoted lifetime member of Collingwood Baptist Church. He is survived by his son, Stephen, his stepdaughters, Donna (Maxwell) and Beverly (Hamel), 7 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren.
