But we had to celebrate and be glad, because this brother of yours was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’”  Luke 15:32

Praying for International Students
Today is day 40 of 40 Days of Prayer!  Today we are praying for the hundreds of thousands international students that God has brought to the Lower Mainland.

Scripture Reading for Today:
Acts 2:1-11 / The Prodigal Son Luke 15:11-32

Prayer Points for Today:
  • As in the book of Acts, God has once again brought the nations of the world together.  God has brought 600,000 international students to Canada.  Pray that they would get to know God in their time here and that the Holy Spirit would use them to carry the gospel to every corner of the world.
  • Imagine in the story of the Prodigal Son, the difference, if he didn't know who his father was or where to go to meet him.  Pray for the many international students in the Vancouver and Surrey area who are not only lonely and homesick in the earthly sense but also know the longing that God has placed in their hearts to know their heavenly Father.  Pray that Christians in the Vancouver and Surrey area would be able to introduce them to their heavenly Father through Jesus.

And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus. To our God and Father be glory for ever and ever. Amen.  Philippians 4:19-20

Praying for Community Foundations of Canada Grant
Today is day 39 of 40 Days of Prayer and today we are praying for Community Foundations of Canada Grant. Following COVID, the Canadian government has set aside funds for local organizations provincially and federally with the hopes of improving the effectiveness at serving communities they operate in.

The Lord provided various partnerships for Cedar Grove, with the Food Bank, Mackie's Place in addition to the many ministries that already take place in our Pavilion. This past week, we submitted a grant proposal to the Community Foundation in hopes of receiving funding to improve our space as we serve the many lives that come through our church building and be able to leverage more of God's money towards the great commission!

Scripture Reading for Today:
Philippians 4:10-23

Prayer Points for Today:
  • Please pray for the case manager who reviews our grant proposal. That the Lord might grant us favor as we try to steward the resources and building He's graciously blessed us with to expand His Kingdom reach here in North Surrey!
  • Pray that Cedar Grove continues to grow as a light in the community of North Surrey, where those who are yet to know Christ might encounter an authentic and welcoming community that points them to the Love of God.
  • Pray for the many partnerships and organizations that utilize the Pavilion. May they be marked by the love of God as they share and utilize the space in so many ways for the glory of our King!

The Lord has put a burden on his heart to bring the Gospel of Jesus to the unreached Sikh-Punjabi community in Surrey.  The vision is to see tens of thousands of Sikhs from Surrey around the Throne of the Lamb in Revelation 7:9-10 as part of the great multitude, clothed in the white robes of the Righteousness of Christ, and crying out with a loud voice, 'Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne and to the Lamb.'

Scripture Reading for Today:
Revelation 7:9-17

Prayer Points for Today:
  • That the Lord would enable us to build a ministry to international and post-secondary students in Surrey as a way of reaching Punjabi young adults.
  • That Bob would be effective in identifying and connecting local churches with ministry to Sikhs in Surrey, and also Merritt, Kamloops, Salmon Arm, Golden.
  • That the Lord would awaken a realization in Lower Mainland and BC churches that evangelism is often initiated through authentic, service-oriented friendship that builds trust and enables, permissions conversations that lead to spiritual discussions and sharing who Jesus is
  • That a champion would come forward to lead a Sports Friends outreach ministry at Cedar Grove which will reach not only youth but into their unreached families.

Muslims in Canada
https://prayercast.com/muslims-in-canada.html

Islam is the fastest growing non-Christian religion in Canada (235,000 in 1991, 580,000 in 2001, and just over 1 million in 2011). Canada’s population growth rate is the fastest of all G8 nations, with two-thirds of the growth coming from immigration. In March of 2019, there were an estimated 1.7 million Muslims among Canada’s 37 million people (4.6%).

Muslims in Canada come from a wide variety of nations, including Egypt, Morocco, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Iran, Iraq, Pakistan, Syria, Algeria, and Lebanon. Canadian Muslims’ fertility rate is about 2.4 children per woman compared to 1.6 for Canadians generally, so the population of Canadian-born Muslims is also growing.

Muslims in Canada appear to be integrating well overall. This is mainly because most Muslim immigrants enter on employment visas intended to help fill vital jobs with skilled laborers and professionals. Muslims in Canada are more highly educated than any other religious category. Compared to Europe, Canada appears to have an unusually well-integrated Muslim population.

Scripture Reading for Today:
Ephesians 2:11-22

Prayer Points for Today:
  • Pray for Muslims to find their identity in Jesus, not material wealth, opportunity, or security.
  • Pray for new believers to become ambassadors for Christ to their home nations.
  • Pray for the church planting team of Pastor Chris & Katrina Tamagi along with Pastor Austin Milne as they seek to be faithful to God's Word and impacting the next generation for Christ here in the North Surrey area.
  • Pray for unity and protection over the team's lives and relationships, that the Love of Christ may mark them and be the reason the World will know that He is God!
  • Pray for Muslims to both hear of and experience the love of Christ through His people.  Pray for supernatural refuge and peace for those seeking security and stability.

Praying for the House of Omeed
This is day 18 of 40 Days of Prayer and today we’re praying for the House of Omeed. “Omeed” is Persian for hope. The House of Omeed is funded by churches like Cedar Grove and other organizations and exists to inspire hope in the hearts of refugees and newcomers to Canada as they are transplanted into an unfamiliar, incomprehensible society. Many intimidating obstacles such as language barriers, unemployment, and not knowing a single person, can cause newcomers to lose hope of ever settling in and feeling comfortable in their beautiful and relatively safe, new home. From the conception of our charity, God has been faithful in enabling the House of Omeed to help thousands of newcomers and refugees in their hardships.

Scripture Reading for Today:
Psalm 23
John 3:16-21
Philippians 3:10-11

Prayer Points for Today:
  • Praise God for the provision of their own space after their previous building was slated to be demolished.
  • Please continue to pray for the renovations and repairs that are yet to be completed as they look to complete their move into a new center in Port Moody. May this space be a powerful center to reach Muslims for Christ!
  • Pray that they can continue to work as a team to bring the hope of Christ to newcomers and refugees in the lower mainland.
  • "Omeed" Stands for Hope in Persian. May the surrounding partner churches continue to serve as the pillars of this ministry so that it can continue to faithfully preach the Gospel to newcomers, refugees and peoples of the middle east without restriction!

  • That our church body would start to recognize the signs, wonders and miracles that God is already doing.
  • That the Lord would continue to grow our dependence on Him as a body and grow deeper in love with our Saviour.
  • That prayer would become the backbone of all we do here at Cedar Grove and may many come to experience the depths of our Lord's love and power as we battle together on our knees

We prayerfully prepare each week to lead worship in such a way that, by God's anointing, the Sunday service will become a springboard into a week of worship for everyone who attends. We are equippers and encouragers of the Bride of Christ, striving to plant the Word of God in the hearts of worshippers.
