We pause from the rush of life to realign with God’s presence and purpose. This isn’t just a routine, it’s a sacred rhythm where we intercede for the church, its leaders, and the spiritual direction we’re called to pursue together. As we pray, we’re reminded that the church is not a building but a living body, sustained by grace and united through prayer.

We also carry the burdens and hopes of individuals, those facing illness, transition, grief, or breakthrough. Each prayer request we receive is treated with reverence, knowing that behind every name is a story God is writing. When we gather, we don’t just speak words, we stand in the gap, believing together for healing, provision, and peace. Whether whispered or spoken aloud, our prayers become a tapestry of faith, woven with compassion and expectation.

Our Sunday School ministry is on the rise, and we are in need of loving, faithful men and women with a heart for impacting these students for Christ. No experience is necessary, only a heart that wants to lead these precious students to Christ.

All teaching and resources are supplied, and there is no requirement to commit on a weekly basis. One Sunday alone would be very valuable.

If you have a passion for encouraging young hearts, supporting families, and watching kids discover God’s love in a fun environment, we would be blessed to have you join our team as a teacher or helper.

Kids Ministry

Why Baptism Matters
Baptism is more than a symbolic ritual—it's a sacred act of obedience and a public declaration of faith in Jesus Christ. Rooted deeply in Scripture, baptism represents a believer’s identification with the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus. It’s a visible testimony of an inward transformation.

Biblical Foundations of Baptism

• Jesus Modeled It: Jesus Himself was baptized by John the Baptist (Matthew 3:13–17), not because He needed cleansing, but to fulfill all righteousness and set an example for His followers.
• Jesus Commanded It: In the Great Commission, Jesus instructed His disciples:
  “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit” (Matthew 28:19).
• It Symbolizes New Life: Romans 6:4 explains, “We were therefore buried with Him through baptism into death... that we too may live a new life.” Baptism marks the believer’s death to sin and resurrection into a new life in Christ.
• It’s a Public Declaration: Acts 2:38–41 shows how early believers were baptized as a response to repentance and faith, joining the community of Christ-followers.

What Baptism Represents

• Cleansing from sin (Acts 22:16)
• Union with Christ (Galatians 3:27)
• Reception of the Holy Spirit (Acts 19:5–6)
• Obedience to Christ’s command (John 14:15)
• Unity with the Church (1 Corinthians 12:13)

Baptism doesn’t save you—salvation comes by grace through faith (Ephesians 2:8–9)—but it is a powerful outward expression of the inward change that has already taken place.

Gathering in Prayer: Strengthening Our Church Family Before Service

Before the music begins and the message is preached, something sacred happens at our church: we come together in pre-service prayer. It’s not just a routine—it’s a powerful act of unity, faith, and preparation that sets the tone for everything that follows.

Why We Pray Together
There’s strength in shared prayer. When we, as the body of Christ, kneel before God together, we declare that our worship is not about performance or spectacle—it’s about seeking His presence as one family.

Unity in the Spirit
The early church modeled this beautifully. Acts 1:14 tells us, “They all joined together constantly in prayer...” They didn't wait for the main service—they sought God together, trusting Him to move. When we gather before service, we continue this legacy of unity, asking God to move in our midst, soften hearts, and align our minds with His will.

Praying with Expectation
We believe that prayer opens the heavens. James 5:16 reminds us, “The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.” So we don't pray out of obligation—we pray with expectation. We ask for healing, for salvation, for joy to rise up in weary hearts, and for the Holy Spirit to transform lives.

The Power and Purpose of Tithing: More Than Just a Donation

In a world constantly measuring worth by wealth and success, tithing is a radical, countercultural act of faith. It isn’t just about dropping 10% of your income into an offering basket—it's a deeply spiritual declaration that God is first in your life, your finances, and your future. Here's why tithing is essential, not just for your church, but for your soul:

1. It Provides for God’s House
Tithing supports the local church—the storehouse of God. It fuels ministry, funds outreach, maintains the sacred space we gather in, and allows the body of Christ to serve our communities with love and purpose.

2. It Tells God, “I Trust You”
Every tithe is an act of trust. It’s saying, “Lord, I believe You are my provider, and I choose faith over fear, even in my finances.”

3. It Creates Margin for God to Fill
When we give first, we make room for the supernatural. Tithing creates space in our lives where God's provision and blessings can flow—often in ways we never expected.

4. It Reminds Me I’m Not the Source
Your job, your hustle, your investment strategy—they’re not your source. God is. Tithing resets our hearts and re-centers our hope.

5. It Connects My Finances to Kingdom Purpose
Your tithe is an investment in eternity. When you give, you’re not just funding church lights or sound systems—you’re partnering with God’s redemptive work in the world.

6. It Gives My Job Eternal Significance
Suddenly, your 9-to-5 isn’t just about deadlines and paychecks. When your income becomes a vehicle for tithing, your work becomes worship, and your job becomes ministry.

7. It Transforms My Money Into a Seed
Tithing plants seeds that bear eternal fruit—changed lives, healed hearts, transformed communities. God multiplies what we surrender.

8. It Breaks Greed and Self-Reliance
Tithing loosens the grip of materialism. It shatters the illusion that we control it all. It makes room in our hearts for humility, generosity, and divine dependence.

9. It Declares God is First
Before bills. Before desires. Before anything else—God. Tithing realigns our hearts with the truth that the Lord reigns supreme in every area of our lives.

10. It’s Not Generosity—It’s Obedience
Tithing isn’t about being kind—it’s about being obedient. We owe God everything. His radical generosity through Jesus means the least we can do is return what He asks.
It’s about unlocking a lifestyle of trust, obedience, and eternal impact. When we tithe, we don’t just fund church programs—we declare to Heaven and Earth that our hearts belong to God.

Let’s be a church that doesn’t tithe out of obligation, but out of deep conviction and joyful devotion. Because everything we have, already belongs to Him.

Awana Club offers fun, friendship and serious Christian teaching that supports the teaching children receive at home and at church. Awana also provides academic growth opportunities for your child in areas of literacy, memorization, team building, and motor skills.

Serving as one of the hubs within the Surrey Food hub, we are partnering with like-minded organizations to receive, share and distribute food resources in hopes of helping to alleviate the food security issue in our local community.

Our partners include, Cobs Bread, Surrey Food Bank (North Surrey Distribution site), Mackie's Place and City Reach among others.

The local community is welcome to come every Monday morning between 9 am and Noon and get bread and produce + for their family.  We are closed on statutory holiday Mondays but will be open on Tuesday mornings those weeks.

Cedar Grove Church is an off-site Food Bank Depot for the residents in the Guilford/Whalley area, in partnership with the Surrey Food Bank. We are open to the community on Wednesdays bi-weekly from 10 AM - 12 PM.  Anyone in this area that needs access to food bank services, please call: 604.581.5443 to register for an appointment. Any questions about this depot, please call and ask to speak with the Client Services Coordinator.

• WORSHIP CENTRE CLEANING - 1 day per week

Working with a team you would be responsible for keeping the Worship Centre clean and ready for Sunday.  Regular duties would include vacuuming, removing garbage, maintaining the chairs as laid out in the chair reset map and restocking bibles, tithe envelopes and information, and pencils in the chair pockets.

• DECOR - Occasional

Helping make seasonal changes to the interior of the building.  It takes many hands to make Cedar Grove inviting and welcoming through every season, both in changing up the decor and in putting everything away again when it is time.  Would you consider putting your name on a contact list and help our decor team 2 or 3 times a year?

God has blessed us with this property that we call “His House”, it takes many hands of service to upkeep it and would appreciate any help.
