Weekly Highlights by Paster Steve - 08 JUL 2025

To all the apprentices and followers of Jesus at Cedar Grove

Summer, for me, is a time for reading and devouring books, having conversations longer than ten minutes, and slowing down. Not everyone gets that luxury, but as a teacher, it usually takes me until the end of July to feel any sense of peace and quiet in my spirit.
This past week, I’ve read several amazing books and am slowly processing what they mean for me. Pastor Miquel’s message hit me even harder because of the other materials I’ve been reading. I had to do some serious soul-searching:
What is God saying to me?
  • Do I pour out everything I have of value at the feet of Jesus?
  • As a “follower,” “disciple,” or “apprentice” of Jesus, am I spending enough time and energy doing what Jesus did?
  • Can I honestly say I’m 100% sold out and laying every part of my life at the feet of Jesus?

We’re running the prayer initiative this summer in the hope that you’ll start your day with Jesus, live your day doing what Jesus would do, and become one step closer to Him each day. That you would wrestle with giving Jesus your firsts, not your lasts.

I’m asking myself two haunting questions daily:
“Is Jesus enough for me?” and “What do I need to lay at the feet of Jesus and give up today?”

What about you this week?
  • What resonated in Pastor Miquel’s message—and more importantly, what spoke to you from the Word of God and the story of Mary?
  • Have you poured out your perfume at Jesus’ feet?
  • How do you start each day?
  • Is Jesus your first thought—or your last?
  • Do we even know what Jesus wants from us each day?

May we ponder—and then act on—what we know about our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
Enjoy your week, and we’ll see you Sunday for the gathering of the apprentices of Jesus, as we celebrate a week of living out His love in our world.
Oh—and bring a friend to church on Sunday. Invite them to come and see Jesus. Who knows? They might step out of this world’s darkness and into the light of Jesus Christ.
